University of Nairobi Enterprises and Services Limited (UNES) delivers consultancy, research, and capacity development services using technical expertise drawn from the University of Nairobi. In the health sector, UNES supports national and donor funded initiatives focused on health systems strengthening, digital health infrastructure, public health research, and program evaluation.

Health Systems Strengthening and Digital Health

UNES has supported several health programs funded by development partners and global health institutions, particularly projects supported by United States Agency for International Development (USAID). These initiatives strengthened health information systems and improved data driven decision making across national and county health programs.

Key work areas include:

  1. Implementation and support of electronic medical record systems and digital health platforms
  2. Health information system strengthening within the Kenya Ministry of Health
  3. Data management and reporting systems for national health programs
  4. Technical advisory support for digital health architecture and system integration

These interventions improve service delivery, program monitoring, and policy planning through reliable health data systems.

Ministry of Health CDV Digital Health Projects

UNES has supported digital health initiatives under the Ministry of Health’s Centre for Digital Health and Innovation (CDV). These projects focus on strengthening national health information systems, integrating electronic reporting platforms, and improving interoperability between health databases.

Technical services delivered include:

  1. EMR system deployment and system integration
  2. Health information system architecture support
  3. Capacity building for health workers on digital reporting platforms
  4. Monitoring and evaluation of digital health interventions

Abt Associates AfyaInfo Program

UNES has collaborated with Abt Associates through the AfyaInfo program, a digital health initiative designed to improve the quality, availability, and use of health data in Kenya.

Under the AfyaInfo program, UNES contributed to:

  • Strengthening national health data systems
  • Supporting data use for policy and program management
  • Training health personnel on digital health tools
  • Evaluating health information system performance

These interventions improved the availability of reliable health information for decision making within Kenya’s health sector.

Public Health Research and Program Evaluation

UNES also implements public health research and program evaluation projects in partnership with global health organizations, including Pfizer. These engagements focus on generating evidence to guide health policy and improve health program performance.

One Health Programs

Training and Capacity Development
